First, a little about the product

What is paté?

Paté is a high-quality, durable spread, of distinguished flavour, made from finely minced pieces of meat (or liver), added protein (milk and vegetable proteins), salt and spices. Sadly, it is not known how far back into history paté-making dates. There is information about the origins of the famous pâté de foie gras, goose liver paté, which was created by Norman chef Jean Joseph Clause in 1765. Paté de foie gras is a famous French pâté made from the fatty livers of geese fed using a special process that dates back to Ancient Egypt.

What is Argeta?

Argeta is more than an ordinary paté. The secret is not just in the fine flavour, but also in the supreme quality. Alongside its outstanding flavour, Argeta’s competitive advantages include the very latest production technology and its many years of experience in making pâtés. Argeta patés are made according to international standards of hygiene, applying the HACCP system that ensures the highest level of safe food production. Further evidence of excellence is our ISO 9001 quality certification, while ISO 14001 environmental certification is testimony that our production is faultless. More about these certificates and their meaning can be found below.

What are the main ingredients of Argeta?

The number one ingredient is always the meat, and the finest at that. When making the mixture for the paté, we first cook the meat, then separate it from the bone on a special machine. Our advanced technology then adds other ingredients to this finely ground mixture, using our top-secret, well-guarded recipe.

What are Argeta’s other ingredients?

It would not work without top-quality vegetable oil, defatted soy flour and starch. Like any other fine food, Argeta’s harmonious and delicious flavour is built up by selected natural flavourings and salt.

Where can I find Argeta?

Argeta can be found on shop shelves around the whole of Slovenia. It is also sold on foreign markets, in Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Kosovo, and many other countries around the world.

Does Argeta paté contain GM foods?

The answer is simple and concise: no. Argeta does not contain GM foods. There are no ingredients that could be harmful to health.

How is the flavour of Argeta Junior different from Argeta’s other patés?

Junior is aimed at younger paté-eaters. It differs in that it does not contain glutamate, and the lower level of added flavourings give it a milder flavour.

And finally, a little more about production…

What does ISO 14001 certification mean?

ISO 14001 is a guarantee of an effective environmental management system that can be linked to other management systems to allow organisations to meet their commercial and environmental objectives. The elements of the system are divided into five main categories: management review, checking and corrective action, implementation and operation, planning and policy. The aim of an effective system is continual improvement.

What does ISO 9001:2000 certification mean?

ISO 9001:2000 entails requirements for corporate quality management systems. The essentials of the standard are the eight management principles, which also encompass the requirements of the business excellence model.
These are:

  • customer focus
  • leadership
  • involvement of people
  • process approach
  • system approach to management
  • continual improvement
  • factual approach to decision-making
  • mutually beneficial supplier relationships

What does HACCP mean?

HACCP is a preventive system for ensuring food safety, which is completely in keeping with our mission to provide safe food. It enables identification, assessment, action and control in relation to potential risk factors in food that could threaten human health. It requires the correct implementation of the accompanying hygiene programmes.

What does the oval symbol mean?

The oval symbol on the product is a guarantee of food safety.

Is the process of making Argeta monitored by advanced control instruments?

Yes. Strict control by our team of experts ensures that Argeta is faultless. The process of making the pâté begins with the selection and testing of top-quality raw materials and packaging. The packaging is examined regularly in the laboratory, and directly on the production line using a camera that records even the tiniest defect, while during sealing any error in the weight of an individual pâté is immediately detected.

Is Argeta thermally treated?

Like the majority of foods with a long shelf life, our patés are thermally treated. This ensures technologically that the product is sterile and durable.

Does Argeta go directly to shops?

No. Before the patés leave the warehouse they must undergo a ten-day quarantine period and hygiene control. Meanwhile all the necessary microbiological and physical/chemical testing of the product is also carried out. All these procedures round off the activities envisaged by the HACCP plan. After this, the patés are then ready to go out to shop shelves.

Who makes Argeta?

For the Slovenian market, the paté is made at the factory in Izola. Droga Kolinska chose many years ago to make its patés in an environment-friendly manner, acquiring ISO 14001 certification for this very purpose. The factory is very advanced, and as stated previously, holds ISO 9001 certification and follows HACCP hygiene standards.

And now something about packaging...

Is the packaging safe?

The packaging is regularly inspected in the laboratory, and directly on the production line, using a special camera. Argeta patés come in a 95 g tin made from stainless steel, with appropriate protection inside and outside. The 50 g and 30 g patés come in a soft aluminium package. After hermetic sealing in the packaging, the patés are sterilised to give the desired organoleptic properties and to extend the shelf life. This ensures a lengthy best before period, and exceptional quality.
